The FAAM Airborne Laboratory is a world-class research facility advancing atmospheric science. It operates a specially adapted research aircraft, supported by a dedicated team of scientists, engineers, flight technicians, and project managers.
Funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and managed through the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), the aircraft is owned by UK Research and Innovation and NERC, and leased via the University of Leeds
The aircraft is supported, modified and upgraded by BAE Systems, operated by Airtask Group, and maintained by Avalon Aero. It is hangared in Bedfordshire, with Cranfield Airport at Cranfield University.
